Advanced Stroke Life Support (ASLS): NEW COURSE

The Advanced Stroke Life Support (ASLS) class is designed to help in-hospital and prehospital healthcare professionals identify, evaluate and manage patients with stroke.

The course was developed by the American Heart association in partnership with The University of Miami's Gordon Center for Simulation and Innovation in Medical Education with a shared goal of reducing deaths and disabilities for stroke victims.

The class is a blended learning course requiring students to complete the applicable online module prior to the classroom session. There is a separate fee for the online modules when purchasing them from AHA.

- Highlights the principles of prehospital stroke management that make up the current standard of care, such as determining when to call a stroke alert and quickly transport the patient to the nearest appropriate facility.

This is a blended learning offering of the Heartsaver courses, the Online Part I must be completed prior to attending the skills session. Attendees can select from First Aid and CPR/AED, Pediatric-specific First Aid and CPR/AED (for daycares, childcare workers, babysitting, etc), First Aid Only, or CPR/AED only.

The AHA Heartsaver Pediatric First Aid CPR AED Course is designed for anyone involved in childcare who have a duty to respond to illnesses and injuries in a child or infant in the first few minutes until professional help arrives. Including: childcare workers, teachers, camp counselors, etc

The latest science says quick action, quality training, use of mobile technology, and coordinated efforts can increase survival from cardiac arrest, a leading cause of death in the United States. The 2015 Guidelines recommend training to develop better systems of care, especially in the event of a cardiac arrest. Everyone should know what to do at every step of a cardiovascular emergency. Effective bystander CPR, provided immediately after cardiac arrest, can double or triple a victim’s chance of survival.

AHA’s Heartsaver CPR AED course provides the knowledge and skills that may help save a life. The Family & Friends CPR Course teaches the lifesaving skills of adult Hands-Only CPR, adult CPR with breaths, child CPR with breaths, adult and child AED use, infant CPR, and mild and severe airway block for adults, children, and infants. Skills are taught in a dynamic group environment using the AHA’s research-proven practice-while-watching technique, which provides students with the most hands-on CPR practice time possible.

Family & Friends CPR is for people who want to learn CPR but do not need a CPR course completion card to meet a job requirement. This course is ideal for community groups, new parents, grandparents, babysitters, and others interested in learning how to save a life.

AHA Heartsaver Instructor Essentials Completion Certificate

Schedule:

This is a 1.5 day course. Day 1 will be didactic and instructional method.

On day 2, you will be required to teach a section of a provider course. You must bring a person with you to act as your student. They will not be charged for the course & will receive a free certification after completion.

The course fee includes the online instructor essentials course, in person instructor essentials course, and required monitoring session(s). AHA requires all instructors to have current Instructor and Provider Manuals for any discipline being instructed; if needed select the required manuals from below to add to your registration

As an option, new instructors can also purchase one of the instructor equipment kits listed below. This provides all equipment (manikins, training AEDs, pocket masks, BVMs, one-way valves, replacement lungs, etc) that an instructor needs to begin offering classes with the exception of books and eCards. Due to the size of the kits, they are not available for shipping.

ACLS Instructor Initial

This AHA course is conducted fully in-person.

Prerequisites:

AHA BLS and ACLS Provider Certification (not expired)
AHA BLS Instructor Certification (or currently in process with our Training Center)
AHA ACLS Instructor Essentials Completion Certificate

***Our Training Center REQUIRES ACLS Instructors to also hold current BLS Instructor certification. If you are not a current BLS Instructor, please register for and complete the BLS Instructor certification as well.***

Annual Instructor Update Session

This course is the required annual update for instructors aligned with our Training Center. All instructors must attend at least once per year (July 1-June 30 of each year) to remain current.
